PlatinumGames’ 2010 sci-fi shooter Vanquish appears to be getting a remaster, as it leaked onto the Microsoft Store earlier today with a February release date.
Gamers were surprised earlier today when they discovered a listing on the Microsoft Store for a remastered version of Vanquish, the fast-paced shooter from Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, when no such remaster has been officially announced.
According to the store page, the game will run with 4K graphics and 60FPS on Xbox One X, and shows the release date as February 18th 2020.
While no such listing has appeared on PlayStation’s digital store, it would be safe to assume that the remastered Vanquish will also be coming to Sony’s console, with this leak just an oopsie on Microsoft’s part.
Read the game’s official listed description below:
“The hit sci-fi shooter returns. An overpopulated Earth suffocating under limited resources looks to Providence, the solar-powered space colony for support. When Providence is suddenly taken over by a mutinous group and its technology used to devastate cities, it’s up to a specially trained unit of space marines to reclaim the colony.
Equipped with BLADE, the experimental weapon system that can scan, copy, and save up to three existing weapons, space DARPA agent Sam Gideon must infiltrate Providence, defeat legions of future-tech foes, and disable the energy transmitter threatening life on Earth.”
Vanquish has acquired a sizeable cult following since its release in 2010 for its intense over-the-top sci-fi action, so a lot of people are going to be happy about it getting a modern makeover. All we can do now is wait for SEGA and PlatinumGames to make an official announcement.
