2020 is here, and while we’re a bit upset that the future promised to us by countless sci-fi films hasn’t come to fruition, we’re looking forward to another year of quality games and the release of next-gen consoles.

As you’d expect, January is a bit barren when it comes to new games. Perhaps use it as a month to play through your pile of shame, which has no doubt grown over Christmas. There are some releases you might be interested in, however, so take a look at the games to watch out for this January.

This one has really snuck up on us. Fondly remember the Brain Training/Brain Age games on Nintendo DS? You’ll be happy to hear that the series is finally making its way onto Switch. Have fun and keep your your brain healthy at the same time. It’s a win-win situation.

AO Tennis 2

AO Tennis apparently wasn’t very good. Will AO Tennis 2 be any better? We sure hope so. If you’re a fan of the sport, you’re no doubt going to want to keep your eyes on this.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne

Fans of Dragon Ball are likely to be very happy when Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot releases this month. An action-RPG that covers the canon Dragon Ball Z storyline, it’s bound to be the highlight of the month for many.

5 Tokyo Mirage Sessions (1)

If you missed Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE the first time around and love both the Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem games series, be sure to check out this Encore edition landing on Switch. Including new songs, additional party members and new story content, RPG fans are in for a treat.

Rugby 20

It isn’t the most popular sport, but if you do like Rugby you’re going to be catered for fairly well by Rugby 20. We previewed it a couple of months ago, and while we thought it lacked atmosphere it impressed us otherwise.

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire

Developed by Obsidian, Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire was a hit with critics when it released on PC. This month, console gamers can get in on the fun, too. Only on PS4 and Xbox One though. Switch players will have to wait a little while longer.
