Featuring two of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, War and Strife, Darksiders Genesis has been designed with co-op in mind.
While it’s ideal to play Darksiders Genesis in online co-op, so that both players get their own screen, it is also possible to play the game in split-screen local co-op. You can’t start a split-screen local co-op game from the game’s main menu though.
To play Darksiders Genesis in split-screen local co-op, the primary player needs to start the game on their profile. Then, when they’re in the game, they need to visit a Summoning Stone to start a split-screen local co-op session. You’ll find a Summoning Stone in the lower right-hand corner of the Void, and there are also multiple in each mission. Interact with one and you’ll see there’s a Splitscreen Co-op option; select it, and the game will then switch into split-screen mode. All the second player then has to do is press a button on a controller to join the action.
Playing in slit-screen local co-op makes Darksiders Genesis much more fun. It’s just a shame that it doesn’t support drop-in-drop-out co-op for added convenience.
