Of course, the reason we all like Sonic is because he’s blisteringly fast, isn’t it? Do you know that in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 you can make him even faster, though?
By collecting all seven Chaos Emeralds via Sonic the Hedgehog 2‘s special stages, Sonic can become Super Sonic. His fur (and spines?) become yellow, and he gains the ability to move even faster than ever and jump really high. You need to collect 50 rings to be able to turn into Super Sonic though and, once activated, they are drained at a steady rate. To stay in Super Sonic mode, you need to keep collecting rings.
In SEGA AGES: Sonic the Hedgehog 2, you can forego the whole having to collect Chaos Emeralds and rings to activate Super Sonic malarky, though. Simply complete the game, which is easy if you make ample use of the Save State feature, and you can access Super Sonic Mode from the main menu by pressing left and right on the d-pad.
When playing in Super Sonic mode in SEGA AGES: Sonic the Hedgehog 2, you start each stage with 50 rings. It means that as soon as you jump, you transform into Super Sonic and can race through the stage at blistering speed. Be careful though, you’ll still die if you fall into an abyss. And if you run out of rings, you’ll revert back into being normal Sonic. So, move fast, collect rings, and have fun. Got it?
