PlatinumGames’ 2013 superhero action-adventure The Wonderful 101 is getting remastered, thanks to a Kickstarter project that reached its goal almost instantly.
With an initial starting goal of just under £40,000, PlatinumGames‘ Kickstarter page for a remastered version of The Wonderful 101 met its goal within minutes of going live, and has continued to explode with donations since.
At time of writing the donations total over £800,000 with around 60,000 backers, meaning the original stretch goals of a Nintendo Switch version, a Steam version and a PS4 version have all been reached; as well as one of the extra goals added after the campaign exploded – an optional “Time Attack” mode.
Until now The Wonderful 101 has only been available on Nintendo’s ill-fated Wii U console, so it’s no surprise that fans have reacted positively to the idea of the game coming to current platforms. From Devil May Cry and Viewtiful Joe director Hideki Kamiya, The Wonderful 101 follows a group of superheroes who fight to protect the Earth from alien terrorists.
