Games to Watch Out For This March

Nioh 2 5

We hope you’re feeling rich, because there are lot of (potentially) mighty fine games coming out this month.

This March, there’s something for everybody. If you like cute stuff there’s the new Animal Crossing, if you like blood and violence there’s DOOM Eternal, and if you like crying there’s Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Honestly, though, they’re just the tip of the iceberg, because there are so many other games releasing that you should keep your eyes on this month it’s obscene. And there’s more to come next month. Phew.

So, take a perusal of our list of games to watch out for this March, and take pity on your wallet/purse/bank balance.

4Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Release date: 11th March
Formats: Xbox One & PC

Aside from being an excellent Metroidvania title, the first Ori game was notable for making players just a tad emotional. We’re expecting the same of this sequel, as well as expanded mechanics and some utterly gorgeous visuals. Of course, it’ll be launching into Xbox Game Pass, so if you’re a subscriber you won’t have to pay a penny or cent more to play it. Result!

We loved what we played of Nioh 2 at a recent preview event, and you might have had a good go of it this past weekend thanks to the Last Chance trial. It goes without saying that we’re excited for it. The new Yokai abilities are just so cool!

7DOOM Eternal

DOOM Eternal 3 (1)

Release date: 20th March
Formats: PS4, Xbox One, Switch, Stadia & PC

Rip and tear. And also swing on monkey bars, climb up walls and other athletic endeavours. DOOM is back this month, and it is gorier, faster, deeper, etc., etc, than ever. Honestly, when we played a bit of it last year it blew our socks off. This could very well be our game of the year. Roll on the 20th.

8Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Release date: 20th March
Formats: Switch

Out on the same day as DOOM Eternal, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is for those who would rather sew and repair than rip and tear. It’s colourful and cute, and it wants you to be a good little boy/girl and be friendly rather than cladding an armoured suit and shoving a demon’s head up its own arsehole. Perhaps get both DOOM Eternal and Animal Crossing: New Horizons so they balance each other out. Ying and Yang and all that.

Ninja Theory’s Bleeding Edge finally launches this month, providing fast-paced online brawler action. We weren’t blown away by the recent beta, but there is something there. As it’s launching into Xbox Game Pass on both Xbox One and PC, there certainly shouldn’t be a shortage of players. So, perhaps give it a go and see if it’s for you.
