Final Fantasy VII Remake is finally here, and with it only covering a small portion of the original game’s story, you might be wondering how long it takes to beat it.
The Midgar section of the original Final Fantasy VII can be completed in just a few hours, though it takes most players about seven. That’s as far as the remake goes for now, yet players will find their playing time dramatically increased.
Thanks to additional areas and more story scenes, as well as new side-quests, challenges and more, a playthrough of Final Fantasy VII Remake will take you about 30 hours. Run straight through it on easy difficulty without engaging in an unnecessary content and you can maybe shave a few hours off that time. And add a few more on if you want to see and do everything. Your journey’s not over once you’ve completed the game, either. Especially if you’re a trophy hunter.
Upon completing the game you unlock chapter select, allowing you to jump straight back into the game at specific points to complete anything that you missed. And in addition, there are now more combat simulator battles to overcome, and a new hard mode is available. Completing the game in hard mode is required to Platinum the game.
So, if you’re a one-and-done type of gamer, Final Fantasy VII Remake will take you about 30 hours to complete. If you want to see and do everything and get all the trophies, however, you’re probably looking at 50-60 hours of gaming pleasure.
