Xbox Game Pass really is the gift that keeps on giving. We’ve seen numerous excellent games hit the service in recent weeks, not least the Yakuza series, which is being drip-fed to us like the hungry-for-Kiryu beasts that we are. But Kamurocho is about to become neighbourly with the wild west, as Red Dead Redemption II readies up to head to Game Pass next month.
That’s right: from 7th May, Xbox Game Pass for Console subscribers will be able to step into the cowboy boots of Arthur Morgan and set off on an epic horseback adventure. If you’ve not yet played Red Dead Redemption II for some reason, this provides the perfect opportunity for it. And if you happen to have an Xbox One X, you’re in for a serious visual treat, too.
It’s not all good news though; because when the Xbox Game Pass gods giveth, they also taketh away. It seems that only one epic Rockstar adventure can exist on Game Pass at any one time, so as a trade-off, Grand Theft Auto V will be removed from the service on the same day. If you’ve been playing GTAV as part of your Game Pass subscription, you’ve got two weeks to finish up your adventures around Los Santos. Or, you can buy the game to add it to your collection permanently – there’s currently 20% off on the Xbox Store for Game Pass members.
So: Red Dead Redemption II will be on Game Pass from 7th May, but GTAV will be leaving on the same day. You can pre-load RDR2 now if you want to be able to jump straight in once it becomes available.
