Released on Switch late last year, Taito’s Bubble Bobble 4 Friends will also be making its way onto PlayStation 4.
The return of the arcade classic saw its adorable protagonists Bub and Bob make their way through a series of increasingly difficult levels, making bubbles to cross gaps and destroying enemies as they go. We reviewed its Switch release, deeming it “simple yet solid arcade action”:
“Whether you play alone or with friends, there’s fun to be had, and with 100 levels to get through, there’s plenty to sink your teeth into. Its modern facelift looks great, but it is little more than an old classic in disguise.”
If you haven’t yet played Bubble Bobble 4 Friends on Switch, or prefer PlayStation instead, there’s good news; the game is set to release on PS4 later this year. A date hasn’t been set, but we can expect it “at the end of 2020”.
The PS4 version of Bubble Bobble 4 Friends will be “greatly expanded”, with a range of new content including new stages and game modes. That new content will also be made available in the Switch version of the game.
To celebrate news of the release, developer and publisher Taito and ININ Games are holding a fan art content. They’re asking players to submit their best Bubble Bobble-themed pieces of art, and chosen winners will have their art featured in the game’s credits. Find out how to enter here.
