Yesterday, Croteam and Devolver Digital announced a release window for Serious Sam 4: it’s coming in August 2020.
Or at least, it is to a couple of formats. That August 2020 window only applies to a PC and Stadia release. Think it’s strange that there’s no mention of a console version of Serious Sam 4? We did too. It seems Google Stadia thinks itself to be a console, and so has snapped up an exclusivity deal.
Exactly how long that exclusivity period is hasn’t been made clear, but when publisher Devolver was pushed on the matter, it clarified it will be coming to PS4 and Xbox One “in 2021”.
It could be exclusive to Stadia for six months or 12 – or perhaps even longer. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see. By that time, PS5 and Xbox Series X will be out, and so Serious Sam 4 will be releasing on last-gen hardware. Let’s see if this gets amended to include the new consoles in the months to come.
For those of us who’ll be happy to play it on PC or Stadia, we can expect suitably insane shooty action. The teaser trailer, which you can watch below, doesn’t show off any gameplay, but it does reunite us with several iconic Serious Sam enemies – the Headless Kamikaze, Rocketeer, Werebull and more.
An exact date has not been revealed just yet, but Serious Sam 4 is slated to release in August; just three months away. We’ll have more on the game closer to launch.
