EGX 2020 Has Been Cancelled, Replaced With Digital Event

Surprising absolutely nobody, EGX 2020 has been officially cancelled – but all is not lost.

EGX was scheduled to be held at London’s ExCeL Centre between 17th and 20th September. But you might remember that the ExCeL was turned into an NHS Nightingale hospital in response to the coronavirus pandemic. The hospital hasn’t been used since May, but it has remained on standby since. Needless to say, swarms of gamers won’t be wandering around its huge halls any time soon.

Instead of the physical EGX 2020 event however, EGX Digital will be taking place between 12th and 20th September. It’s running in collaboration with PAX Online to bring “around the clock, 24-hour online content”.

The digital event will include developer sessions, panels, “let’s play” content with popular streamers and YouTubers, online meet-and-greet sessions, and playable games. EGX Digital is free to attend for anybody, regardless of whether they were planning to attend the physical expo or not.

We can expect more information about EGX Digital soon. For now, you can find out more on the official website.

If you had a ticket for either EGX 2020 or EGX Rezzed, you’ll automatically be refunded by the end of July. More information for ticketholders can be found here.
