Released on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC way back in 2012, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning was an action RPG that went down quite well with critics.
Hitting a note with critics sometimes isn’t enough, however; developed by Big Huge Games and 38 Studios, who also published the game alongside Electronic Arts, it was a commercial failure.
THQ Nordic acquired the rights to the Kingdoms of Amalur franchise from 38 Studios back in 2018, though stated that the publishing rights still belonged to EA. It appears that might no longer be the case though, as an Xbox One listing for a remastered version of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning has appeared on the Microsoft Store, with the publisher listed as THQ Nordic.
Developed by Kaiko, who has completed various other remasters for THQ Nordic in the past, Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning appears to be set for release on 18th August. The store listing states that it includes all DLC previously released for the game, enhanced graphics, and refined gameplay. Needless to say, it should prove to be an interesting adventure for those who never played it back in the day.
Chances are Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning will be on other platforms too. Expect it to be officially announced shortly.
