Carrion, the upcoming 2D horror game which sees your shapeless behemoth ooze its way through an underground complex, is coming to Nintendo Switch.
Set to launch later this year alongside the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game, Carrion casts you as an oozing, bloody behemoth that murders everything in its path. Cooked up in an underground lab, your monster is none too happy about being experimented on. And so, it sets out to liberate itself and potentially take over the world.
What makes Carrion so interesting, beside the fact you’re basically playing John Carpenter’s The Thing, minus the shape-shifting, is that you can ooze your monstrosity through the tiniest of gaps. So, instead of leaping around on your own two feet, you fire out tentacles and swing your form around the complex. Your enemies become more aware of your presence and make a concerted effort to stop you, but you’re more than capable of giving them a run for their money.
We dabbled with Carrion‘s PC demo and were pretty impressed by what we found, particularly when we got to grow our monster; each human we gobbled up added to our meaty threat. We might get some funny looks when we’re doing that on the move. Though, thinking about it, maybe it’s not a good idea to burst through an in-game toilet, devouring the user, when sitting on the toilet ourselves. Yikes!
Will the joy of being everyone’s worst nightmare make Carrion a must buy? You can find out yourself when it launches on Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox One and PlayStation later this year. We’ll have more on the game closer to launch. For now, you can give the new Nintendo Switch-centric trailer a watch below.
