If you want to take a look at some of the games currently in development, you should be heading over to Steam right now.
Yesterday, the Summer Game Festival kicked off on Steam. A celebration of new and upcoming videogames, there are demos to play, developer interviews to watch, and livestreams to enjoy. Most impressively, there are currently over 900 demos that players can download and try – all completely free.
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused many game events and conventions to be cancelled. E3, PAX, EGX Rezzed, Gamescom; they’ve all gone, and so there hasn’t been a place for developers to showcase what they’ve been working on. The Steam Game Festival – Summer Edition is the response to this – and it is just what we’ve all been needing.
Here are some of the coolest-looking demos we’ve seen so far:
- The Wild at Heart
- Hundred Days – Winemaking Simulator
- Chinatown Detective Agency
- Black Book
- Back Bone
- Destroy All Humans!
- Cake Bash
- The Dreamcatcher
- Cris Tales
- Raji: An Ancient Epic
- A Space for the Unbound
And that’s only a few of the hundreds of games that are available. The demos won’t be around forever though; you have until 22nd June to download them, so be sure to try out the games you’re most excited about.
Head to the main Steam Game Festival page here. There’s a full event schedule of all the streams, AMAs and interviews you can watch, so check out anything that catches your eye.
