Ys fans have something to look forward to in 2021.
NIS America has announced that Ys IX: Monstrum Nox will be heading west next year. It will launch on PS4 first, but Switch and PC releases will follow.
In Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, players will once again take control of Adol Christin. Arriving in the city of Balduq along with his friend Dogi, he’ll unexpectedly be detained. It’s when he meets a strange woman called Aprilis that things really get weird, however. Turned into a Monstrum by Aprilis, he finds himself landed with new supernatural powers, enabling him to exorcise monsters.
With Adol allying with other Monstrums to face a terrible threat, players will be able to take control of a total of six playable characters, each with their own unique abilities. Familiar mechanics such as flash dodge and flash guard will make a return, but new abilities such as Gifts and Boost Mode will also feature, enriching the game’s combat.
Explore the city of Balduq and accept quests from townsfolk before entering the shadowy dimension known as Grimwald Nox next year. Until then, check out the announcement trailer for Ys IX: Monstrum Nox below.
