You can’t pre-order one just yet, but it looks like Amazon is gearing up for it: an informational landing page for the PS5 has appeared on the retailer’s website.
The page contains a wealth of information about the upcoming PS5. It highlights some features as well as some accessories that will be available, including the HD camera and media remote.
There’s also a list of all the games currently announced for PS5, though no more information is available about most of these just yet.
It’s unusual for such a page to pop up on Amazon without ‘pre-order now’ or ‘buy’ buttons tied to it. After all, Amazon isn’t an information service; it’s a shop. It wants you to buy the products it displays. Therefore, it seems very likely that we can expect pre-orders to open up soon.
Does this mean Sony is imminently going to announce a price? Hopefully, but it’s unclear. It’s not unheard of for pre-orders to be available without a price tag. But with the launch of PS5 (and Xbox Series X) only four months away at most, Sony (and Microsoft) are going to have to reveal the price sooner rather than later.
As for what we think, we’re expecting the standard PS5 to cost around £400-£500/$450-$550, with the Digital Edition being up to $100 cheaper. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too much longer to find out whether we’re right or not.
