Far Cry 6 is Coming Next Year, And It Looks Great

Far Cry 6

During yesterday’s Ubisoft Forward stream, Far Cry 6 was officially unveiled with a fancy CGI teaser and a rather impressive cinematic trailer.

We’ve not seen any gameplay just yet, but the four-minute long CGI trailer sets the tone of the game perfectly. Set in Yara, a fictional nation based on Cuba, we see President Anton Castillo encouraging his young son, Diego, to follow in his dictatorial footsteps.

Once a tropical paradise, Yara is in a state of unrest, with civilians violently protesting outside of the presidential home. As per the press release, “players will experience the adrenaline and chaos of guerrilla combat as they are swept up in a revolutionary movement to take down a tyrant”. Sounds very good. Sounds very Far Cry. Sign us up.

You can watch the cinematic trailer below. Made to look like a fancy title sequence for a leading network TV series, it sets the tone of what we can expect from Far Cry 6, as well as name-dropping some of its voice and mocap talent. Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad) leads the way in the role of Anton Castillo.

And here’s the CGI trailer, showing an interaction between Castillo and his son. That animation! Chefskiss.gif

Far Cry 6 is releasing on 18th February 2021. It’ll be coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC and Stadia.
