Coming later this year from Square Enix, Outriders is an RPG shooter set in a dark sci-fi world.
Since its announcement at E3 2019, Square Enix has drip-fed us information about the game through a number of dedicated broadcasts. And so far, everything points to this being an adventure worth keeping an eye on. The latest video to be released reveals Outriders‘ campaign structure. It also gives us new information about side quests, in-game companions and how travelling will work.
Set in the world of Enoch, Outriders will see you traverse a huge area spanning multiple types of environments. You’ll move from thick jungle to arid deserts, gaining powers and unlocking secrets along the way.
The video, which you can watch below, gives just a glimpse at some of these areas. Following the main campaign will take you across the map, but only by exploring of your own free will and engaging in side content will you see everything that the map has to offer. And happily, side quests scale to your current level. That means it’s always worth revisiting early missions later on; the rewards will always be relevant.
Along with a glimpse of gameplay, the video also gives you a taste of Outriders‘ soundtrack. It’s composed by Emmy winner Inon Zur, known for soundtracks from the Fallout series along with numerous other games, films and TV series. It’s safe to say, then, that the score is in good hands.
Watch the video below for a taste of what’s to come from Outriders. Though this is just a slice of the latest Broadcast about the game; go check out the full episode for more information. It’s set to release this holiday season on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC. We’ll have more on the game closer to launch.
