Gotham Knights Takes Us Back to Batman’s Universe in 2021

The new Suicide Squad game wasn’t the only thing that Warner Bros. showed off at this weekend’s DC FanDome. The heavily-rumoured Gotham Knights finally had its curtain lifted.

Being developed by Warner Bros. Games Montreal, Gotham Knights takes us back to the streets of Gotham. But unlike the much-loved Arkham series, Batman isn’t our hero. The game takes place in a timeline where Batman is dead, and so Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin must step up to protect the city without him.

Your base will be the Belfry, and from there the new band of heroes will tackle a brand new and original mystery. It’ll see you dealing with “the darkest chapters” of Gotham’s history; it’s not all as merry and light-hearted as Batgirl’s Batcycle might suggest. Which does feature, of course!

Playable either solo or in two-player online co-op, the game will have you exploring a “dynamic and interactive” Gotham City. The game’s world is open, allowing you to explore at will and take on missions as and when you see fit. Each hero has their own set of skills and abilities that you’ll evolve over time.

As you’d expect, there’ll be enemies to thwart and a host of missions to complete that will see you exploring all corners of the city. Some of DC’s most famous villains will make an appearance, so expect to face off against the likes of Mr. Freeze in tense and exhilarating battles.

Gotham Knights is set to release in 2021 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC. We’ll have more on the game over the coming months. In the meantime, watch the gameplay trailer below, or visit the official website for updates.
