If you want some fancy new themes for Tetris 99, now’s your chance!
Tetris 99 is a multiplayer game for the Nintendo Switch where 99 players compete against each other at the same time. As you clear lines, you’ll send junk to other players, with your aim to be the last player remaining. The game’s 16th Maximus Cup gives players the chance to earn some really cool themes.
In previous challenges, 100 event points were required to be able to unlock rewards. But this time, around players only need 50 event points. There’s a number past themes to choose from, including Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Luigi’s Mansion and Ring Fit Adventure.
The 16th Maximus Cup starts at 8am BST/3am ET on August 14th to 7.59am BST on August 23rd. It’ll be split into three back-to-back rounds:
- Round 1: Get the Animal Crossing: New Horizons theme as a reward (14-17th August)
- Round 2: Get the Luigi’s Mansion 3 theme as a reward (17-20th August)
- Round 3: Get the Ring Fit Adventure theme as a reward (20-23rd August)
If you want to participate in the 16th Maximus Cup, you simply need to play the game online during the event. For each match, you’ll earn points based on how well you do. Once you earn 50 points or more a feature theme will unlock. Each theme includes artwork, music and block designs inspired by the featured game.
So if you want to make Tetris 99 prettier with some cool themes, log on between 14th and 23rd August. Even if you don’t win any rounds, you’ll still accumulate points.
