This week’s PS5 showcase gave players another glimpse at the new Oddworld game.
Set for release on PS5, Oddworld: Soulstorm follows protagonist Abe as he tries to save the inhabitants of his world.
Abe isn’t your typical video game hero. He is a Mudokon, and in Soulstorm he will be tasked with facing impossible odds. Each choice that the player makes will bring them one step closer to either life or death. For the first time, Soulstorm introduces crafting to the Oddworld universe, along with a Scavenger’s Economy so that Abe can be more resourceful. Players will craft their own tools from the consumer products that have been pushed on Abe and his followers.
Oddworld: Soulstorm will make use of PS5’s advanced technology to look and play the best it possibly can. The breathtaking visuals, which you can see in the trailer below, are brough to life thanks to the console’s afforded power. And the DualSense controller’s features allow players to feel Abe’s heart palpitations and more.
The game has “2.9D” environments – no, we’re not sure what that means either, but they look fantastic. Through them, players will not only explore dangerous, but beautiful locations like the Gorge, Sorrow Valley and Feeco Depot.
You can watch the new trailer for Oddworld: Soulstorm below and look out for more information on the game as it gets closer to release.
