Of all games to get a next-generation edition, The Witcher 3 certainly had to be one of them.
Today, CD Projekt Red has announced that a next-generation version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is in development. Dubbed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition, it will bundle the base game together with all existing DLC and additional content.
It will feature a “range of visual and technical improvements across the base game, both expansions, and all extra content”. Those improvements will make use of the power of the new hardware; the game will get ray tracing, faster loading times and more. Along with a PS5 and Xbox Series X release, the upgraded Complete Edition will also be coming to PC.
If you already own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PS4, Xbox One and PC you’ll get a free upgrade for the corresponding system. It’ll also be available as a standalone purchase.
Despite being over five years old, it goes to show there’s still a lot of life left in CD Projekt Red’s current magnum opus. In its lifetime, it’s sold over 20 million copies, and we’ve no doubt it will continue to sell more on next-generation hardware.
