Aiden Pearce is back! You know, the protagonist of the original Watch Dogs, the one with the iconic baseball cap.
Speaking as part of September’s Ubisoft Forward stream, Watch Dogs Legion live producer Lathieeshe Thillainathan revealed that those who purchase the game’s season pass will be able to play as Pearce. More than that, he’ll have his own storyline which, if the teaser trailer is to be believed, will see him making the same old mistakes all over again.
What’s unusual about this development is that Watch Dogs Legion doesn’t focus on any one protagonist. Instead, you’ll be able to play as multiple protagonists who may well meet a messy end.
It’ll be interesting to see how Aiden fits into Legion’s world. Two games later, can he still hold his own or will he be hopelessly out of his depth? How will he handle Watch Dogs Legion’s surveillance state, a world that’s more aggressively vigilant than ever before. If he has an “accident” involving a double decker bus, can we play as Watch Dogs 2’s Marcus instead?
Ubisoft has stated that the Watch Dogs Legion season pass will include
- Two post-game story expansions (one of which is Aiden Pearce’s story)
- Four unique heroes, each with new abilities and exclusive cosmetics
- Three Dedsec Missions
- A Dedsec car skin
The season pass is currently part of the Gold and Ultimate Editions of Legion, though you’ll likely to be able to purchase the season pass separately.
British rapper Stormzy will also turn up in Watch Dogs Legion, without the need for a season pass, though it’s not clear if he’s going to be a playable character.
Watch Dogs Legion will hit PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Stadia on the 29 October 2020. An Xbox Series X/S release will follow in November and the PS5 version will arrive at an unspecified later date.
