Good news for all of us who can’t wait to get lost in Night City: Cyberpunk 2077 has gone gold.
CD Projekt Red confirmed the news this morning on Cyberpunk 2077’s official Twitter channel.
A game ‘going gold’ essentially means it’s basically finished and ready to go to production. Discs are getting printed, ready to be sent out to retailers. Of course, work on the game has not finished, and likely won’t be for some time; the team will continue to work on patches and updates for the game for some time.
The announcement follows the news last week that CD Projekt Red had ordered its team to work six-day weeks up until the game’s launch.
So while we’re overjoyed that Cyberpunk 2077 is closer to release than ever, it’s important to remember the sheer amount of hard work that has gone into its production – especially over the last few months.
We can’t wait to see the result of everyone’s dedication and sink our teeth into Night City.
And Keanu, of course.
