Asymmetric sabotage-em-up Among Us makes you choose a name before you play, but what if you later want to change that name? Here’s how.
Among Us lets you choose your character’s name, much in the same way you choose a gamertag when you create a new console account. But the good news is, while you’ll have to jump through a few hoops to get xXXTracerSucksXXx changed, changing your name is a piece of cake.
Here’s what to do:
- Launch the game.
- Click the online button.
- At the top of the screen, you’ll see your current name.
- Click on that name and hold down the backspace key to delete it.
- Type in a new name. Your name can be ten letters maximum.
That’s how you go about it, but there’s actually more fun to be had. Unlike gamer tags, there seems to be no central record of names so, not only can you change your name as many times as you like, you can give your character a confusing moniker.
So, you can call your character “blue” then, using the computer in the match lobby, change your colour to red. If you are the impostor, there may be some confusion when people try to point the finger.
Not sporting exactly, but given we’ve seen people using actual cheats to kill every impostor at the start of a match, we don’t feel so bad about flummoxing other Among Us players.
