People = Power. So to be truly successful in Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition, you’ll need to increase your population limit. Here’s how.
No, this isn’t just a communist ideal, but a fact necessary for succeeding many real time strategy games. None more so than Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition.
How much population you have and how you use them is a key determiner in any successful Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition battle. You will need lots of settlers to gather and extract resources, a sizable army to secure your land and a navy that can seize the seas. However, you can’t just recruit forever; there is a limit to your total population .
Thankfully you can someway increase your population limited in Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition. To do so, all you have to do is build houses; each house increases your population by 10, all the way to 200. You then can expand to 250 using cards.
This is the total population limit in Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition. No matter how many houses you build after that, you will not be able to exceed this limit.
Note that, unless you’re Dutch, you will not be able to exceed 99 settlers, even if you have population space spare. There is no option to turn this limit on your economy off.
However, there are popular mods for the original Age of Empires III that increased the basic population limit and that gave you an unrestricted amount of settlers. I can’t imagine it will take long before similar mods are available for the Definitive Edition.
