Wondering how to play with your friends in Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition? Here’s what you need to know.
Real time strategy games are about trying maximise the amount of damage you can do with the resources you can extract. The only way to show your prowess in this regard is to simply smash your friends. And so playing with your friends in Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition‘s multiplayer mode is the best way to go.
It’s not enough just to win against an AI that doesn’t know the shame of their loss; you need to win against a human with all their ego and pride. Or I guess you could play co-op too…
On that note, playing with friends in Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition is very simple. Just follow these two steps:
- Select ‘multiplayer’ from the menu.
- Here you can either search for a game your friend is hosting by pressing ‘Browse Games’, or you can host one for your friends to join by clicking ‘Host a Casual Game’.
If you are hosting a game, you can either have your friends search for your game – give them the game ID that is in the top right of your screen. Or you can invite them directly through the ‘friends’ (or ‘clans’ if you are in the same clan) button also found in the top right.
You can also set a password to stop random people joining your games.
