Animal Crossing: New Horizons is Getting a Winter Update This Week

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

The holiday season is upon us and that means jumping back into Animal Crossing.

Things are always things changing in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. We’ve seen a swimming update, a fireworks event, Halloween and more. This time around, Nintendo has announced what players can expect from the Winter Update.

Cold weather is a staple of the winter months so other than dressing your characters up in cosy sweaters, players may begin to notice some other changes. We’ve already seen some auburn-coloured leaves, but now players will see those leaves beginning to fall.

And, as it gets closer to Christmas, you may just notice some white frost falling from the sky as well.

On November 26th, players will celebrate Turkey Day in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. You’ll be introduced to chef Franklin who lands on the island just in time to invite players to enjoy some tasty cuisine. On the day players will be able to help this adorable new character gather ingredients to help him with his cooking.

On December 24th, another character, Jingle, will sail to your island to spread holiday joy to you and your villagers for the Toy Day event. There are new decorated trees to find during this time and shaking them will give players some festive items to decorate their islands with.

This new update also includes some brand new reactions, like the much-requested “work out” reaction as well as other gems like “taking a picture” or “yoga.” Players can expect new hairstyles and cosmetics as well.

The last items coming with this new update, as if all that wasn’t enough, are two things that players have been wanting for a very long time. The first add-on includes more home item storage. Those players that buy every colour and every style of shoe in the Able Sister’s Shop will now have room in their home storage to buy even more.

The final update coming soon is the addition of Island and Resident Data Transfers. Any players wishing to move their island save data to another Nintendo Switch console will be able to using the free Island Transfer Tool in the Nintendo eShop.

The process for data transfer is a bit complicated, but Nintendo has a help page explaining it all for those interested.

And there you have it. That’s everything coming soon to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Players will see new content starting November 19th.
