2Spider-Man: Miles Morales

Spider-Man Miles Morales 4

A standalone expansion to Insomniac’s excellent 2018 superhero hit, Spider-Man: Miles Morales is the PS5 launch game to get if you want a stunning display of what the hardware is capable of.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales simply looks stunning. The draw distance is vast, its textures are exquisitely detailed, and its lighting is sumptuous. In performance mode you get all of this and it plays at 60fps, too, which is incredible. Whack it into fidelity mode, however, and your eyes are treated to more visual splendour thanks to a brilliant implementation of ray tracing. The caveat is that it then only runs at 30fps, but that’s still good enough.

It’s not all about the visuals, though. Thanks to Miles’ Venom and camouflage abilities, the gameplay of Spider-Man: Miles Morales has been noticeably enriched over its predecessor. Honestly, if you’re after the best PS5 launch games, this needs to be at the top of your list. Or even better, pick up the Ultimate Edition of the game, which also includes a spectacular remaster of the original game.
