Cryospace is an upcoming PC sci-fi horror that’ll make you regret you ever picked up an electro-mop.
Because, as if being a janitor in the middle of nowhere wasn’t unsettling enough, Cryospace sees your custodial character charged with defending his colony ship from all manner of nasties. Think Passengers meets Alien, without Chris Pratt creeping on the sleepers.
Announced alongside an official trailer, Cryospace looks to sport a heavy dose of isometric action, showing the protagonist taking on foes who, while not particularly fast, are more than happy to chow down on the cryogenically frozen colonists.
Created by Kuklam Studios and published by Game Operators, it boasts that you’re “made a hero against your will. You become a leader. A slayer”. Overlooking that, we’d be the first to make a break for an escape pod.
But we were intrigued to learn that, though it’s a single-player game, you have to manage your own team. You decide who to wake and, in the event of horrific alien-related injuries, who to keep alive. Just what will your protagonist be prepared to do survive and, slayer or not, what happens if your fellow survivors disagree? There’s also a rather sinister note in that you have to decide what to do with the dead bodies. We’ve a feeling Cryospace will give you the choice of shoving corpses out of an airlock or into the stew pot.
You’ll have to wait a little while to find out, as it’s currently pencilled in for a 2022 PC release. But you can check out the trailer below and wishlist it on Steam if Cryospace sounds like your kind of nightmare.
