With such a huge map, getting everywhere on foot in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is a tall task. Thankfully, you can call a mount. Here’s how.
While you’ll gain new mounts as you play through Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, a horse will be available to you very early on. Your horse is at your beck and call, and is just one button push away at all times.
To call your mount, simply hold down left on your d-pad. You’ll see a ‘call mount’ symbol with a circle around it appear on screen. Hold down the button until the circle is full. Eivor will then whistle, and their horse – or current steed – will come running to their side.
Once your mount is there, simply press Y to climb on, and away you go.
You don’t need to dismiss your mount; if you no longer need it, simply leave it where it is and carry on on foot. When you need it again, hold down left on your d-pad to call it back.
There are limits to where you can go on your horse or mount in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, of course. A horse will struggle to climb very steep or rocky terrain, and while it may have a good attempt, it’s likely to get stuck at some point. So some parts of the world are much better traversed on foot.
