Like in previous games of the series, in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Eivor is accompanied by a bird who can scout nearby areas for them. Here’s how to change it.
Eivor’s bird is available in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla by pressing ‘up’ on the d-pad. But for the first time, you’re able to change the appearance of their bird companion. A raven by default, new colours and breeds are available once you progress far enough into the game.
You can’t change your bird in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla right away; you’ll have to progress a few hours first. Once you’ve travelled to England and founded your new hometown of Ravensthorpe, you’ll be able to start developing the town. By raiding nearby camps, you’ll gain materials that will allow you to build new buildings in the town.
One of those buildings is the stable. While that’s the building you’ll need to change your mount, it also doubles as an aviary, allowing you to change your bird or buy new ones.
When you’ve got enough materials, you don’t have to wait for the stables to be completed; it’ll happen instantly. You’re then able to talk to the stable master, which will bring up the stable’s menu. Toggle across to access the aviary menu, and from there you’ll be able to see what birds are available.
When visiting other settlements in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, you can also visit their aviaries. They may have different birds you can purchase. You’ll also occasionally find different, often limited-edition birds, at the travelling tradesman who sets up in Ravensthorpe some hours into your adventure.
