A Remastered Mass Effect Collection is Coming to PC and Consoles in 2021

Mass Effect Legendary Edition

Fans have been waiting for this for a very long time.

After being heavily rumoured for what feels like years, BioWare has finally. announced the Mass Effect series is being remastered. Dubbed the Legendary Edition, it bundles together Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3, along with all DLC and promo weapons and armour.

The three titles will include upgraded textures, shaders, models, effects and technical features. However, they’re very much remasters rather than remakes. In the blog post announcing the news, Bioware’s GM Casey Hudson says:

“Our goal was not to remake or reimagine the original games, but to modernize the experience so that fans and new players can experience the original work in its best possible form.”

Still, it’s exciting news for anyone who’s been looking for an excuse to jump back into the popular sci-fi series. And even better news for anyone who’s yet to play it.

A release is scheduled for spring 2021 for PC, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PS5. The Xbox Series X and PS5 versions will have “targeted enhancements”, too.

There was also a short statement saying that the team is also hard at work on “the next chapter of the Mass Effect universe”. It’s early stages, so no more information is available just yet – but it’s enough to have us excited to see what’s next for the series.

Look out for more information on Mass Effect Legendary Edition as it gets closer to release.
