Christmas is quickly sneaking up, and if you’ve still got some gifts to buy, we’re here to help you out.
If you have a friend or family member who’s lucky enough to be getting a PS5, perhaps an accessory to go with their shiny new console will go down well?
There are plenty of great PS5 accessories out there, and we’ve rounded up some of the best.
LucidSound LS15P Wireless Headset
A wireless headset is practically a must-have for anyone who games online. Or anyone that likes to listen to their sound up-close and personal, in crystal-clear quality. The LucidSound LS15P headset is a great option for both. The microphone is removable, so for those who want to use just the headset as a pair of headphones can do so without a mic getting in the way. It’s a wireless headset too, so you don’t need to worry about being tethered to a cable. Simply plug the supplied dongle into a USB socket on the PS5, and away you go. It’s an excellent quality headset, and it’s light and comfortable enough to wear for long gaming sessions, too.
A second Dualsense controller
So far, there are no third party controllers available for PS5. PS4 controllers will work only with PS4 games, so if you want to play PS5 games with friends, you’ll need a second DualSense controller. It’s hard to imagine a third-party controller could compete with this, anyway; it’s a fantastic controller that redefines gaming. Its features are hard to explain until you try it for yourself, but its advanced rumble, haptic feedback and adaptive triggers really do immerse you in the game like never before. Any PS5 owner would be thrilled to have a second controller in their set-up.
Seagate 2TB Game Drive
Okay, so this isn’t exactly one of the best PS5 accessories since it’s designed for PS4, but it can be used with PS5, so that counts. You currently can’t expand a PS5’s internal memory – which uses an advanced SSD – but you can store and play PS4 games from an external hard drive. So getting a hard drive, like this Seagate 2TB Game Drive, allows PS5 users to play all their PS4 games without using up the limited internal SSD. It doesn’t have to be a PS-branded one to work, either; any external USB drive will do the trick. But we do love the branding.
12-month PS Plus Membership
So PS Plus isn’t exactly in the category of PS5 accessories, but it’s an essential add-on for any PS5 owner nonetheless. Not only does it allow players to enjoy their games online, it also provides access to a number of free games every month. And PS5 owners will also get instant access to the PS Plus Collection, a library of some of the best games from the last generation. Giving someone a year’s subscription is the gift that just keeps on giving, basically. And it doesn’t matter if they already have it, since subscriptions can stack.
DualSense Charging Station
The PS5’s DualSense controllers need charging; you can’t simply change the batteries in them like you can with an Xbox controller. They charge on a USB-C connection, but this official Charging Station, which can seat up to two controllers, makes the whole process neater and tidier. Simply pop your controller on the dock when you’re done gaming for the night, and it’ll be ready to go with a full charge in the morning.
