Originally released in September 2019, chances are you’ve already played Gears 5. But we’d wager it’s well worth jumping into again thanks to the graphical overhaul it’s had for Xbox Series X/S.
As one of Microsoft’s biggest franchises, a lot of work has gone into making Gears 5 shine on its new generation of consoles. And whether you’re playing on Xbox Series X or S, you’re in for a treat. On Series X, its main campaign runs at a solid 4K 60fps. The resolution is lower on S, but it’s still a solid 60fps. The game also supports the consoles’ brand new 120Hz mode; if your TV is capable, you can play multiplayer at 120fps for probably the smoothest experience you’ve ever had on console.
Needless to say, if you’re going to be jumping into Gears 5 for the first time, you’re in for a treat. And even if you’ve already played it, it’s well worth jumping back into as one of the best Xbox Series X/S launch games. Your save data is of course compatible on Xbox Series X/S, too.
