Evil West could be the Darkwatch sequel we didn’t know we needed.
Evil West has no connection, official or otherwise, to 2005’s monster-hunting shoot-em-up Darkwatch, but we’re looking forward to recreating some of the wild west mayhem it gave us.
Unveiled at The Game Awards, it casts you as vampire hunter Jesse Rentier. He’s tasked with defeating the ‘dark menace (that) consumes the American frontier’, not to be confused with the white menace consuming Native American lives and lands. Rentier has a wide range of monster-slaying tools and, thanks to Evil West’s co-op mode, can call in another player for assistance. A system of perks will let you boost your slaying game, becoming the living dead’s worst nightmare.
The trailer is suitably blood-soaked, showing Rentier slaughtering his way through his foes, using what looks like a steam-powered knuckleduster at one point. That said, it doesn’t show any actual gameplay so we’ll have to wait a little longer to see what the in-game action is actually like.
Flying Wild Hog and Focus Home Interactive, developer and publisher respectively, have Evil West penned in for a 2021 release on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. You can wishlist Evil West on Steam or check out the reveal trailer below.
