While you could travel everywhere on foot in Cyberpunk 2077 if you like, it’s often better to jump into one of your vehicles.
Just like Geralt in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, V, the star of Cyberpunk 2077, has their own steed that’s at their beck and call. Only in this case, it’s got an engine and multiple wheels.
At the start of Cyberpunk 2077, V already has a car that you can summon to your location pretty much any time you’re outside. Look for the icon in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen that has a car in it; if it’s blue, it means you can summon your car to your location. All you have to do is press the required button, which if you’re playing with a controller is right on the d-pad. So, to summon your car, all you need to do is tap right on the d-pad and it’ll quickly be with you.
You don’t have to stick with your default car, however, and at one point in the game it will be out of action for a decent amount of time due to an accident. If you can’t wait for your car to be repaired, check your journal for any cars that have been offered for sale. If you have the cash you can buy one.
More cars will become available for purchase throughout your time with Cyberpunk 2077, even once your starting vehicle has been repaired. You don’t have to buy them, but some of them are much nicer than your default vehicle. You’ll also be awarded some vehicles for completing missions. Even motorbikes are available. Over time, you can build quite a formidable garage if you like.
If you want to change the vehicle that is summoned when you tap right on the d-pad, keep it pressed instead. You’ll then be presented with a screen showing a list of all your available vehicles. From there you can select the vehicle you want to summon, and from that point on it will come to your side when you tap the summon vehicle button until you select another one.
