Saturday Night Live Serves up a PS5-Centric Stan Parody

Stu SNL

Saturday Night Live‘s Stan parody “Stu” will strike a chord with anyone struggling to get their hands on a PlayStation 5.

“Play has no limits!” boast the oft-seen PlayStation 5 ads, but you’ve got more chance of finding a restaurant that serves unicorn steaks than getting your hands on one of Sony’s fabled consoles. So, for some, Saturday Night Live‘s “Stu” sketch will hit close to home.

“Stu” isn’t quite as brutal as “Stan”, which saw the titular character drowning himself and his girlfriend, but it does raise an important question, one parents around the world will be bracing themselves to answer – why can’t Santa just make more PlayStation 5s?

Featuring appearances by ‘Dido’, ‘Elton John’ and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the video sees Stu becomes increasingly unhinged as Saint Nick fails to deliver. Though, to be fair, we’ve had the same haunted expressions, sitting in front of our PCs, hammering ‘refresh’ at 3AM in the morning. Stu’s letters flow as fast as the egg nog and.. well, you’ll have to watch to find out.

Dick in a Box SNL

Personally, we were hoping Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake would return for “Dick In A PS5 Box” but, sadly, that wasn’t to be. Still, “Stu” is a fun little skit and should, at least, give solace to anyone who’s put a PlayStation 5 into their basket only to be told that, in the intervening milliseconds, the site’s run out of stock.
