CD Projekt Red has responded to information “leaked” by an alleged Cyberpunk 2077 developer. The information was posted on GameFaqs before appearing on Reddit.
What’s unusual about this is that major developers don’t often go about debunking Reddit rumours. But this Reddit thread has gained enough traction for the Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher developers to deny it.
The post states that “CDPR hurt themselves to keep investors safe and sound” and that a No Man’s Sky style comeback is in the works. It also talks about cut content and alleges incompetence at CDPR.
CD Projekt Red didn’t put out one of their lengthy yellow messages, but instead tweeted:
“Normally we don’t comment on rumors but this time we wanted to make an exception as this story is simply not true.”
Is the story genuinely false or is CDPR attempting damage control? Given that there’s no original source for the story, we’re going to take with a pinch of salt. Either way, CD Projekt Red has a lot of work ahead of them if they’re to bring Cyberpunk 2077’s last-gen versions up to scratch.
