Crystal Dynamics Has Teased Their Tomb Raider 25th Anniversary Celebrations

Crystal Dynamics have teased how they’ll be celebrating the 25th anniversary of Tomb Raider.

It seems like only yesterday Lara Croft was running around caves, gunning down endangered species and expelling geysers of blood from her legs. But the truth is the very first Tomb Raider game was released in 1996, making us feel very, very, old indeed.

Fortunately, Crystal Dynamics is on hand to distract us from this disturbing fact, having taken over the Tomb Raider franchise in 2006. The company has released a brief video, teasing what to expect from them during this landmark year, which you can view below.

The video confirms that Crystal Dynamics aren’t currently working on a new Tomb Raider  game. Shadow of the Tomb Raider was the final entry in the ‘rebooted’ Tomb Raider series though, going by the ending, it was meant to set up the earlier games. They do, however, say, they’d like to carry Lara’s story beyond the original games.

Instead, they promise “community features, nostalgic content, and surprises along the way” over the course of the year. They’ll be putting out interviews, live streams and so forth, theming each month around a particular Tomb Raider game.

The celebrations begin on February 1st and we’ll be sure to keep you up to date with any major developments.

He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
