Guilty Gear Strive, the next entry in Arc System Works‘ heavy-metal beat-em-up franchise, has a new trailer.
Sure, Arc probably got the title by kicking a Scrabble set down a flight of stairs, but we’re still looking forward to Guilty Gear Strive. The series is so amazingly absurd, with its hard rock soundtrack and cast of daft characters, it’s hard not to love it. Sure, the fighting mechanics are top notch but being able to play as a character with a bag on their head or a guitar-slinging witch never gets old.
The new trailer, which you can watch below, shows how gorgeous the game is in action. Sure, it doesn’t feature hand-drawn 2D graphics any more, which we sort of miss, but Strive does a good job of disguising the fact. The trailer shows off the various game modes (we’ll be jumping straight into arcade play), the many tweakable settings, PS4/PS5 cross-play and more.
Online play is, naturally, also included, with up to nine players in a lobby, plus you’ll be able to offline with whoever’s sitting next to you. That said, we’re hoping there’s an option to set the game to offline by default; we’ve seen several games assume you want to play online and make you wait for game to connect. We certainly could have done without Dragonball Fighter Z’s offline lobby system.
The trailer also teases a season pass and reveals that those who purchase Guilty Gear Strive‘s Ultimate and Deluxe will be able to play a limited Early Access version of it three days early. For everyone else, you can get your hands on Guilty Gear Strive when it hits Playstation 4, Playstation 5 and PC this April 9th.
