Hogwarts Legacy, the Harry Potter RPG originally stencilled in release this year, has been delayed until 2022.
Set in the late 1800s, Hogwarts Legacy is an upcoming open world RPG, featuring many of the locations from the Harry Potter films. It’ll give Harry Potter fans the chance to explore Hogwarts and get murdered by the various hazards that shouldn’t be within ten miles of a functioning school ; you can read our breakdown of the trailer here.
However, while the game was set to be released this year, it’s been pushed back to 2022.
“Creating the best possible experience for all the Wizarding World and gaming fans is paramount to us,” reads an announcement from the Hogwarts Legacy Twitter account. It’s not clear what prompted this announcement, whether there’s specific issues with the game or whether the title, as a whole, needs more polish.

Either way, Harry Potter fans will have to wait a little longer to weave their own wizarding legacy. Hopefully the wait will be worth it, and J.K. Rowling doesn’t tweet something so incendiary the whole franchise becomes untouchable.
