Is Hitman 3 a VR game? Can you dispatch your targets while flailing around like an idiot? What if you don’t want to strap a bulky headset to your skull?
You may have seen Hitman 3 virtual reality trailer or watched YouTubers attempting to assassinate people with a Playstation VR strapped to their heads. But is Hitman 3 a VR game?
The answer is, technically, no. Hitman 3 was not created from the ground up as a VR game. It’s primarily a third person stealth game, like most of the Hitman games before it.
However, while it’s not a dedicated VR game, it does have a VR mode. If you have a Playstation 4 copy of the game, a Playstation 4 or 5 and a PSVR setup you can play Hitman 3 in VR. The visual quality will be a little worse than tackling the game on an LCD TV, even a non-4K one. But the big bonus is that you’ll experience some of Hitman’s levels first-hand, some of which are absolutely gorgeous.
No, that wasn’t a typo. If you have a Playstation VR setup and have purchased the previous titles on Playstation 4, you can play any one of Hitman 1-3’s levels in VR. You might be stuck in lockdown, depending where you are, but you can still put your headset on and roam around gorgeous Sapienza.
What about other headsets, though, like the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive Cosmos? Sorry, you’re out of luck for now. We wouldn’t be surprised if the VR mode came to PC, but for now it’s available only on the Playstation VR.
So, Hitman 3 isn’t a dedicated VR-only title but, if you have a PSVR headset, the world of first-person virtual assassination is your oyster. If you’re wondering whether or to not to get it, check out our review.
