Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning Will Arrive on Nintendo Switch

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is coming to the Nintendo Switch.

Kingdoms of Amalur is back. Again. Originally released on the Xbox 360, PC and PS3, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning received positive reviews but was unfortunately the development studio’s only title before they went bust.

However, last year THQ Nordic remastered and re-released the title for PS4, Xbox One and PC (again). Taking a leaf out of Metal Gear Revengeance and Returnal’s book they dubbed it Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning; it wasn’t quite as well received as it was upon its original release, but it still garnered mostly positive reviews. Now, Nintendo Switch owners are getting the chance to jump into the boots of The Fateless One, Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning’s amnesiac protagonist.

As is the norm for RPGs you can choose your class and race at which point you wade into a world ravaged by the “Crystal War” (insert your own Breaking Bad joke here). We took a look at the remaster and felt it needed more graphical tweaks, particular as far as lip-synching went. But we concluded that, while it wasn’t as pretty as it could be, it was a “rollicking open world adventure where simply going out and exploring is a joy”.

The Nintendo Switch version of Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning will arrive March 21st, both as a physical and digital release. You can check out the re-re-release trailer below:

He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
