Tetris and Kirby join forces in Tetris 99’s upcoming Maximus Cup.
If you’re a Kirby fan, and definitely if you’re a Tetris fan, now is a great time jump into Tetris 99 on Switch. Participating in this coming weekend’s Maximus Cup will earn players an in-game theme based on Kirby Fighters 2.
Tetris 99 is a large-scale Tetris game with 99 players competing against one another to be the best of the best. What makes it different from other Tetris games is that you can target your opponents to try and take them out and gain the advantage. You have to be careful, though, because they can take their revenge on you just as easily.
The Maximus Cup challenges both beginners and veterans to battle against other players and earn a place on the top of the leaderboard. The 19th cup runs from January 7th at 11p.m. PT to January 11th at 10:59p.m. PT.
You have to be a Nintendo Switch Online member and play online during the event period to receive points. As soon as you hit 100 event points, you’ll unlock your new theme featuring background art, music and Tetrimino designs that are Kirby Fighters 2 themed.
