Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated is Headed to Mobile

Battle for Bikini Bottom

Calling all Spongebob fans! Leedle Leedle Leeeeeee!

HandyGames and THQ Nordic just announced that Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated heads to mobile this month. Players couldn’t wait to step into the squishy shoes of the heroic yellow sponge once more when it released back in June.

Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated will launch on iOS and Android. Players can pre-order it on the Apple Appstore and pre-register to grab it on Google Play.

The game follows Spongebob and friends Patrick and Sandy as they try to save Bikini Bottom from a robotic menace. Players will venture to iconic locations like Goo Lagoon and the Mermalair collecting golden spatulas in order to progress. You’ll even take on evil giant robots that look strangely like the game’s characters. The Rehydrated version also includes a multiplayer mode, which lets players take on the role of other fan favourites like Squidward and Plankton.

We reviewed the game back in June saying “SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated still feels like the classic version – for better and for worse… and with its wonderful new graphics, Bikini Bottom has never looked better”. As a 3D platform game, it has its issues, but if you loved the original 2003 release, you’ll find a lot to love here.

With polished controls made just for mobile, you can pick up this Spongebob title for just $9.99/£8.99 on January 21st. If you can’t wait, it’s available right now on PC and consoles.
