Despite being out next month, we don’t know a great deal about Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood. But developer Cyanide hopes to change that with the release of two developer diaries.
Set to release on 4th February, Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood is a first person action-RPG game based in the ‘World of Darkness’ universe. Originally a tabletop RPG, Werewolf: The Apocalypse dates back to 1992, and a number of video games have been made based on the series. Earthblood is the latest, and puts players in the role of a werewolf named Cahal.
Part of a tribe known as Garou, Cahal is hellbent on fighting against an energy corporation known as Endron, whose activities are destroying the world.
That’s about the gist of it, and we don’t know much else about Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood just yet. But today, two developer diary videos have been released, in which the production team gives us a deeper look at the game.
The first video, titled ‘Welcome to the Pack’, focuses on the game’s universe and introduces the story of Cahal. In it, we learn more about the lead character as well as his tribe and the fight against Endron.
The second video is titled ‘The Essence of Blood’. This developer diary focuses more on the game’s combat. It also reveals Earthblood‘s transformation system; Cahal can change form at the touch of a button. There’s his human ‘homid’ form, which he requires to interact with other characters, and his ‘lupus’ form, turning him into a wolf. But a third form, ‘crinos’, imbues him with supernatural strength to use against his enemies.
We’ll have more on Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood as its release date draws closer. It’s coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC on 4th February.
