FPS Boost Makes Backwards Compatible Xbox Games Even Smoother

Xbox FPS Boost

Microsoft’s new FPS Boost feature will make Xbox One games even smoother.

Microsoft have just introduced a feature that makes specific Xbox One games run at even higher frame rates on those consoles. Sadly, Sonic Mania isn’t amongst those titles which robs us of the obvious gag. But if you own Far Cry 4, New Super Lucky’s Tale, Sniper Elite 4, UFC 4 or Watch Dogs 2, all of those games will run more smoothly.

New Super Lucky’s Tale, for example, can run at up to 120 frames per second and UPS can run at 60FPS even on Xbox Series S. Microsoft plans on adding a range of other titles to FPS boost and will also be rolling out a compatibility options section that lets you choose exactly what tweaks you want your Xbox One games to have. Because, while a higher FPS is in theory better, some people might find a game’s new smoothness a little off-putting.

FPS Boost is available today for Far Cry 4, New Super Lucky’s Tale, Sniper Elite 4, UFC 4 or Watch Dogs 2, with more to come later.

He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
