Gran Turismo 7, originally set to roar into action this year, has been delayed until 2022.
As revealed by Sony head Jim Ryan, in an interview with GQ Magazine, the latest entry in Sony’s Playstation 5 exclusive first-person racing series will be stuck in the pits until next year. Gran Turismo 7 was going to be released in the first half of this year, but Coronavirus-related delays have been resulted in it being pushed back.
The Gran Turismo series first launched in 1997 and will hitting its 25th anniversary this year, though it’s not clear if Sony have any specific plans to celebrate this milestone. The Gran Turismo games emphasise realism over car-smashing shenanigans and feature a large number of licenced, real-world cars. The downside to this is that some manufacturers can be a little cagey about how much, if at all, you can damage their branded vehicles.
In light of this delay, there’s no new release date, or even a release month for Gran Turismo 7 though Sony promises there will be an announcement in the near future. However, if (against all odds) you’ve got your hands on a Playstation 5 and are craving some racing action, don’t despair.
