Depending on your skill at action games, and the difficulty you’re playing on, there might be times where you need to heal in Ys IX: Monstrum Nox.
The latest entry in the Ys series, Ys IX: Monstrum Nox finds Adol being cursed. Now a Monstrum, he must fight monsters to keep people safe while also trying to find a way to free himself from his new predicament. And so of course he’s going to get hurt along the way. For that reason, you’re going to need to know how to heal
Outside of battle
Thankfully, healing in Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is fairly easy. One way to heal, albeit slowly, is to simply stand still whenever you’re in Balduq city. A better way to heal in the city that’s also free, however, is to visit the nearest Relief Plate. Simply walk over a Relief Plate and all of your health will be restored instantly. With a certain item equipped, you can slowly heal by standing still in dungeons, too.
In battle
When it comes to healing during battle, however, things get more complicated. Or at least more costly. To heal during battle you’re going to need to use an item, so you should definitely make sure you’re carrying some items that restore HP at all times. Ingredients restore small amounts of HP, but food and potions are much more effective at healing your wounds. Meals are available, too, which not only heal you but also provide additional bonuses for a period of time. Perhaps stock up on more healing items than normal when you’re heading into a dungeon, just in case.
When the time comes to heal in battle, or outside of it if you’re in a dungeon and in a bind, press right on the d-pad to bring up the items menu. From there, select the healing item you want to use in the list that’s brought up, then select a character to use it on. And that’s it; some of their health will be restored.
Procurement
Healing items can be bought from various merchants in the city, and if you want to get them cheaper you can craft them via visiting the medic. Chances are you’ll even find some on your travels. Not all healing items are equal, either. Some will restore a lot of HP, while others only restore a small amount. As your pool of HP increases, make sure you have healing items that restore a decent proportion of your max HP before engaging in any tough battles.
